Finally sewing with Chicopee

I had one more quilt finish in 2013. This might be my favorite of the year! Chicopee by Denyse Schmidt, black yarn dyed Essex, and the Arkansas Crossroad block work together so nicely don't they? I had the hardest time deciding on the right pattern, but I think I found it. Here are a couple pictures I took a couple weeks ago after quilting, I will try to get some finished ones soon! Hope you had a joyous Christmas and wonderful start to the New Year! xo, Angela

  1. Wow that is absolutely stunning!! What size did you cut your Chicopee squares? I hate cutting favorite fabrics into little pieces but it can be hard to find a block that works when it's "upsized"!

  4. I love it, it's just perfect!! I can't believe how long I let my Chicopee stash hangout before I finally made something with them. And then once I did use them I had to buy more, because I loved what those become! haha Happy New Angela!!

  9. Beautiful quilt! And thanks so much for the inspiration. My youngest son (age 35) has been asking for a couple of years now for a mom-made quilt but I haven't been able to figure out how to make one that's masculine and still fills my need to work with bright colors. This is the perfect combination and I just ordered the fabric. I've seen this pattern online, but mostly with white or light backgrounds and it didn't interest me much; yours is an inspiration and shows me how much I have to learn about color and style (this will be my second pieced quilt). Thanks so much for sharing.

  14. This is gorgeous! I just did an exchange with someone--she needed Hope Valley and in turn she gave me more Chicopee, one of my all-time favorite lines. Beautiful with the Essex linen, Angela!
